Concrete Skateboarding issue 101

Cover Shot - Chad Dickson , switch ollie.

Living in Vancouver with about 10 other skate photographers can be difficult at times, and new spots are hard to come by since rumours fly fast. But construction is booming in Vancouver these days, so I took a day off shooting to do some scouting. Luckily for me, the first spot I came across was this massive roof gap with a smooth run-up that had never been skated. Chad Dickson was in town and I knew he’d be down. A lot of people know that Chad got hit by an SUV last year and almost lost his life, so it’s great to see him fully recovered and ripping. He took full advantage of this virgin spot with a huge switch ollie off the roof to the top of the stairs.

Getting a tour article

Some people (Unless you've been on one) don't know how hard it is to get a full article in a magazine. I just got back from the Osiris Tour which was a lot of fun since our crew was amazing, but we encountered some problems. Broken bones, rain, hangovers, 15 people to organize, not knowing where spots are, after demo legs, etc etc. The list can go on forever, but we still managed to pull through with some strong photos and videos, soon to be seen by all. It's amazing that with all the elements against you it all turns to gold in the end.  Here's a few, and a little drawing I did the other night while waiting for friends. The others are being held onto by the powers that be.
Corey Duffel, double exposure experiment.

Osiris tour

Just got back from the IPath tour which was a lot of fun, a bunch of really nice guys. Sunday we were in Kelowna which I'm sure you've heard is getting hit by huge fires. Here's a quick post with a few random photos from the last few weeks. Tomorrow I get on a plane to film the Osiris team on the East coast of Canada.

Night scapes

Just got back from a drive to North Van to test just how good the new Nikon D3 is in low light, my verdict is "Amazing" ISO 1000 at 11pm!

Tours

Well, we are just finishing off issue 101 today of Concrete Skateboarding Magazine. Then the next week or so is filled with tours. I get to shoot photos on the I-Path tour this weekend and film on the Osiris tour, very excited about them both. Updates to come soon.

Meeting people

As a lot of photographers can tell you, meeting people with a camera in your hands is much easier than with out. Here's a couple randoms from Vancouver "Wow! great suit, can I take your photo?"

Supra Footwear + Spencer Hamilton

I just got my hands  on the new SBC and found this ad that I shot with Spencer Hamilton. Skating hard as always! I like the long lens as well but the fish eye took it. The footage looks great but I'm sure you'll be seeing that soon as well.   Thanks Guys.

Hensel ringflash

The newest item to my wish list is this powerfull 1200 watt ringflash. I rented it for the weekend and now can't live without it. Here's a couple of sample shots I took, some on Robson street and a few of my friend Carrie (jewelry and art direction by Sasha).
